Molly Malone, la balade irlandaise

Je vous offre en podcast la ballade "Molly Malone" qui fait pleurer tous les Dublinois. Je pleure aussi. Mais c'est pas grave. A l'origine, c'est un "Comic Song"...

Cockles and Mussels, or Molly Malone
Comic Song, Written and Composed by James Yorkston

In Dublin's Fair City
Where the girls are so pretty
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
She wheel'd her wheel barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying "cockles and mussels, alive, alive o!"
Chorus
"Alive, alive o!, alive, alive o!"
Crying "cockles and mussels, alive, alive o!"

She was a fishmonger
And sure 'twas no wonder
For so were her father and mother before
They bold wheel'd their barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying "cockles and mussels, alive, alive o!"
Chorus

She died of a fever
And no one could save her
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone
But her ghost wheels her barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying "cockles and mussels, alive, alive o!"
